Week 2
It was great to see that everyone was able to post a response and made the deadline. What a diverse group of students we have in class! I hope that I get a chance to speak with each of you individually about your area of study and work. This week we are reading paragraphs about holidays. If you could create a holiday, what would it be for? How would you celebrate it? I think I would create a day of the year that everyone had to learn something new. People could take a class or try a new sport or do anything that would be beyond their normal skills and activities. I think it's important to always be learning and growing as a person. It would be called "National Take a Risk Day".

I read the journal which you gave.I think mr.McCormick is a talent person i have never known before.He holds five skydiving world record,a former Chief Operating Officer of the fifth largest architectural firm in the United States,an engineering degree and an MBA.It's very great!I want to become a person like him in the future.
ReplyDeleteNow i will answer your question about holiday i created.If i created a holiday,it would be a picnic in San Francisco with my friends.We would start to San Frans. at 10 am.The first thing when we come to San Francisco is finding a suitable spot to picnic and then the girls would prepare for the lunch with toast,pork,salad and tomato.The boys would prepare a iron case with a chicken meat is hanged up in the midst of case which did yesterday to catch the crabs.Then we would throw that case into the sea (the case was bound with a rope).About 15 minutes later,we would pull up the case to see our result.After that we would go to Golden Gate bridge and Alcatra prison.Alcatra prison is one of famous place in San Francisco beside Gold Gate bridge.And then we would go shoping in downtown San Francisco.It has a great shoping centre in there but it's too expensive with Vietnamese student like us.We would return to San Jose at 7 pm and this is my great plan about my picnic.
It's exciting that there are some days for events in a year. If I can create another special day, I would like to make a day which is fun but not too big. I hope the day will be the day for the people around you. There are so many and diverse people in the U.S. from other countries, and they all have their own foods. I think that the noodle is the most common food in the world, since I want to create 'The Noodle Day'. I hope that 'The Noodle Day' should be the day of sharing their own foods, especially noodle, each other. People can give their own noodles to neighbors, go to eat noodle together, and present something long to the old people as the meaning for long life. I also suggest to designate the day of November 11th as 'The Noodle Day'. The number means something long like noodle or chopsticks. Of course, it is also good that 'The Noodle Day' is the day for anything long. For example, it is possible that people can have a trip by train, eat Pho for lunch with chopsticks, enjoy Churros, wear long boot, and present long candy bar each other. Anyway, I think it can be one of the interesting day in our lives. What do you think of my idea?
ReplyDeleteIt's so interesting to have a holiday with friends, specialy with national friends. If I were a leader, and I could creat a holiday, I want to creat a BBQ party. Every one can join and each one can bring their traditional food of their countries. Of coures, they're only additional food. The main food are still beef, pork, or chicken...whatever for grill. It's also make us feel closer with our friends, more fun and more interesting. Boys are trying to enkindle to prepair to grill. Girls can prepair foods. We can prepair and grill together. If we can join together with national friends, first: we can talk together and it's a good way to improve our English, second : I can know more about their countries. Nothing is better than that enjoy the food which we grill together. In addition, we also can organize some games to play. That is my idea about celebrate a holiday.

ReplyDeleteIf I would create a holiday, I think I would create a day about donate. There are a lot of people who need someone's help in each place of the world. Every person devotes something, and then it could become a huge power. If we would have this holiday, people could use this time to put their personal things in order at home, and clear up useless things. For example clothes that are not fitting or want to throw it away could be sent to the poor countries of the world to those persons who can not afford the clothes. It wouldn't cause waste; on the other hand it would recycle and reuse this waste. Doing this could make joyful mood because of helping people and clean house. You could also devote your own labor if you don't have unnecessary things. There are a lot of social and welfare services as hospital, sanatorium, orphan asylum; all of these need manpower to do some tedious works. In addition you could accompany and speak with them to pay your care about their life. This would make them happier and make oneself learnt more experiences by helping people. The simple method for those persons who are very busy is donating the money, they could not pay something or labor. The amount of money that it needn't be very large, perhaps only a cup of money used to buy the coffee. It's enough for person who need help. I believe that could create great miracle through every small strength. This would be called " World Devote Day "
ReplyDeleteThis week 2 Question is pretty interesting. Because I never thought about that I might can create a holiday. So if I could create a holiday, it would be a vacation. But it's not just a vacation. it is one week every two months. So people can take a vacation one week every two months. And I'll call it "Resetting Holiday". Before I came here, I had a job in Korea for last 3 years. It was pretty hard to go to work every day except for weekend. but sometimes I had to go to work even on Saturday. I really wanted to take a vacation. Because I was exhausted from work. However, there was only 15 days a year for a vacation to me. It wasn't enough for me. I think that all employees are same as me. Anyway, after my vacation, I felt much better, and my work efficiency was raised by vacation. Because I got energy. I felt pleasure, happiness when I was working, and happy memories made me smile. From this, I felt that my office has a pleasant atmosphere. And I realized that I was the someone who made a pleasant atmosphere. Anyway, during this holiday, people can do it whatever they want. Because making feel better is that it depends on that person. So if someone ask me that what do you want to create a holiday, I'll answer this "Resetting Holiday" in a split second.
ReplyDeleteIf I could create a new holiday, I would make a Holiday that all of people are able to feel worth living. So, I would make "Share Day." The Share Day doesn't mean what material thing share with someone. I mean people share their mind with the others. For example, we would go to people who can't feel the other people's affection ordinary times. Although it might be only a day, if we go there with our family or friends, we could spend the most fruitful time in Holiday than any holidays. I think we can receive more thing when we help or share ours with someone.
ReplyDeleteI want to suggest a special day that people share what they know and experiance with another people who do not prior experiences and need a help without payments. Sharing with another people who do not poesses the skill, desires, and somethings makes us more active, dynamic, and creative. We all have little chance to think over and consider people surrounding us because we all must do something for preparing our future. Notwithstanding, IF we have much chances to service, our knowledges, experiences and social relationships are much more enlarged and deepened. Moreover, our society is also more worth living, Eventually, activities above mentioned, services are most beneficial to us, ourselves. I want to call this day "service day".
ReplyDeleteIf I could create a holiday, I would make a holiday that "turn off day" meaning of turn off that i want to speak is which turn off TV and computer. both tv and computer offer useful information and convenience. thus nowadays, we can't live without tv and computer. people use tv and computer not only at work but also at home. For example, in Korea has poll result that 31.8% Korean watch tv and does computer by their free time therefore, conversation disappears with family and people live in the own worlds. this is very serious problems. children think parents is money maker and awkward conversation maker, so "turn off day" is one of holiday which is all family turn off tv and computer and talk, eat dinner with family, go picnic with only their family. people don't allow to awkward time with family any more from this holiday and i hope that people feel happy and delight with family.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, nowaday,people is always very busy,even lack of consideration when they do something, so that will make a lot of mistakes,but they have little time to think about it. If i can create a holiday, it would be " National Self-review Day ". In this day,everyone would be very modest to face their fault. Firstly, they should recall something in the past if they have made some mistakes that they should have avoided it, or think about how we can did better. Secondly, they would have a chattng with their friends and family in relax environment. The friends and the family will give him some suggestion and point out something that he didn't do well in an appropriate way, or tell him some problem on his personlity, it's very helpful for him to make great progress in his work. Finallly, they will take over their suggestion and owner shortcoming. And they will notice it and try to adjust it. That's a way to make sure they will make a few mistakes in future. Acturally, it's obvious that everyone will make mistakes. But it's important for them to have courage to face it and try to find a way make up it, even avoid it, so that they won't make the same mistakes in future.Thus, they will improve personal ablity and make great progress in the future. That is the purpose of " National Self-review Day ".
ReplyDeleteHello! I would create World Music and Dance Day. This name seems pretty long, yet it well describes my idea. Music and dance are part of our day to day life. I would choose hot summer day for this occasion, for example first day of August. Rules would be easy – no any rules, just have good fun! Everybody could celebrate this day on their own way, for example, if someone likes Rock and roll, dances and sings Rock and roll. Place also doesn’t matter, for instance it could be street, park, private property, library and so on. In addition, this special day would be day off. The keynote would be: Music heals our souls, dance heals our bodies. There would be also many musical and dance contents, picnics, plays and games. This could be excellent occasion to met new people, to enjoy together, to relax. Off course everybody can dance and sign, even if they think they can't. It is only one day holiday, so people should have more patients and be much tolerant then usually. World Music and Dance Day could have many advantages, for example If people don't like dance, they still like listen to the music or play the music and vice versa.
ReplyDeleteI would like to create a holiday for pets, because there is no holiday about animals. Even though there are more and more people treat their pets as children, many pets are still ignored. Therefore, I hope people can pay more attention to their pets. I think a holiday is in order to commemorate and remember someone or an important event. If I could create a holiday, it would be called "People are Responsible to Pets Day". I wish to remind people that take good care of their pets.
ReplyDeleteIf I could create a holiday, I would make Double E Holiday.Double E holiday is that everyone exercise day.Everyone time off in this day,but you must do any exercise which you like.in modern time,some people is getting biger and biger.it is harmed their health.In addition,according to reserch report,they feel delight after they exercise.Next,people do exercise regular.They are happier than people who don’t do exercise.This day just is a warning –exercise will benefit you.Lets do it now.
ReplyDeleteIf I could create Holiday, I want to create "Disaster Day.” Nowadays many countries suffer grievous nature disaster every year. Such as earthquake, Tsunami, typhoon. Many people dead that day. I think if people find shelter more quickly, they can escape from horrible disaster. People need to think more seriously about disaster, so if I can make a holiday, I’ll make holiday for prepare disaster. Each city makes a simulation like a real situation as much as they can and then gather the citizens. Citizens can realize about seriousness of disaster and they can learn about how to prepare a hurricane, how to built shelter, how to hide from earth quake. Then, people can provide easily, and victim of disaster’s number is will be decrease.
ReplyDeleteIf I could make a holiday, I would make a “BFF Day”. It’s an abbreviation for “Best Friend Forever”. In the world, we now have a lot of holidays. However, there is no holiday for friendship among all of the holidays. Although lover is important to us, friend is as important. I personally think expressing love and appreciation to friends is even harder than doing it to the lover. Also people often forget the importance and value of friends since they easily assume that friends just automatically know everything even when it is not expressed or said. Even though friends love each other, I think it is important to express the feelings and to actually say them out loud since nothing can be perfectly understood unless spokes. To celebrate this holiday, you can either exchange presents or plan a trip with your friends.
ReplyDeleteMaking a holiday sounds like a very interesting topic to write about. If I can make a holiday that would be celebrated by many people,it would be called “No gasoline using day”. On this day people aren’t able to use anything that uses gasoline. For example,people can't use cars, buses, motorcycles, etc. The good thing about this holiday is that it helps people to not be dependant with their car or even taking the bus. They can learn to walk on their own two feet and enjoy their surroundings. Some people do not really appreciate the world because they are so occupied with their duties for that day. The no gasoline usage will also help the air because there won’t be smog to pollute the air. There is a negative side to having this holiday because people will be worried about how they will go to school, work, or someplace they need to go. But I think it will be good because people will save money on gasoline, the air pollution will be stopped for that one day, and people will get some exercise and enjoy the outside.

This day can drink a lot of alcohol, and alcohol's price is going down especially beer.It is for people who has job and over 21. The day of night, they can make noisy a lot such as festival. I think nowdays there are a lot of people who has any worris or problems.I want them to forget about any worris at this day, and I want them to be free from their worry. The next of this day, they can start everything with fresh sprit.
