  1. This is Clare. My goal is to finish my SAL course and get the high mark. After I finish my study, I will get back to Taiwan. I hope to work in a foreign businessman's company in Taiwan. It usually has good treatment to work in foreign businessman's company. For this, the first thing is to improve the English ability, listening , speaking , reading and writing. And the writing is my challenge , my writing ability is very bad. Some people say that reading books or news can improve writing skill.

  3. This is Jay Park. It's been about 30 years since I studied English. I didn't even image for me to study English in my life again. But I am faced with the situation that I should have good English for my goal. Of course, I do know what a difficult thing it is in this age. My first goal is being better in English than my competitors, my twins of son and daughter.
My major is an Oriental Medicine of using acupuncture and herbs in Korea, and I finished my work of medical treatment and lecture for my goal. The work I want to do most now is scientific research on Oriental Medicine. My last goal is to do my own research in NCCAM(National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine) of NIH in Bethesda, Maryland. As a part of my goal, I'm going to participate in the research of Stanford University on Mar. 1, 2009. I should study English at SAL in the morning and go to work in the afternoon on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I am anxious about whether I can do the two kinds of works well or not.

  7. First of all, I want to finish this SAL class very well. And then, I if I get a good TOEFL score, I want to apply another major for master degree. I know that this is going to be very hard and difficult work. For this, I have to improve my English skill. Especially writing is very important to me. Because if I go to University, I'll submit my paper at school.
I think writing needs a lot of things like format, grammar, vocabulary, etc. So the best way is that I think reading a book, newspaper or taking a periodical magazine. So end of this class, I hope that I will be a good writer.

  9. I want to be Korean language teacher for foreigner, so I need to speak some the other languages. Actually, my major is
Electronical Engineering, but these two things are cleary differnt. In addition, I didn't study English from graduating High school till comeing here, so English is difficult for me who began to study English again after nine years' absence. However, I have to enhance my English for my future. I think writing is important for studying any languages. while I was learning Japanese for one and half years, my Japanses teacher always emphasised grammar and writing, and I realized, too. Sometimes I feel writing is very difficult, but I think if I patiently endeavor, my English will be more definite, even I talk to someone. Also, in the future I will be teaching Korean to someone, I'll be able to explain more explicitly.

  10. Hello everyone. I don't think too much about the future, yet I have few goals. First, pass the TOEFL IBT exam quite good. I realize that is huge challenge, but I will do my best. Second, I'm going to take another major. I consider International Relations and International Law, but I am not sure where exactly. If I won't be able to do this here, in U.S., I will choose studying in Poland, or eventually Great Britain. Third, I'm going to meet some nice and smart girl and raise one's own family. How improving my English writing help me in the future? In my opinion good writing skills are necessary to get to the college, or find a better job, or to communicate with people from other countries.

  16. This is Avery. My goal is to enjoy my life during working which i want to do. I wish I can work at the hotel in Las Vegas. In order to reach my dream, I must study English more and I plan to take Hotel Management when I enter the university. That's why it's an important thing to me to improve English writing skill. I believe my English will improve like a baby first learns to listen and then they speak and then they can write. So I have recently been listening to everything related to English around me. I turn on the Television while I'm doing everything and also while I do homework. And my vocabulary is very weak. So I'm trying to memorize many words to improve my vocabulary. I plan to read a lot so that I can learn many words even though i don't know the meaning of the word. I believe by doing these things my English will improve.

  18. I came here to study English. Actually, my major is Chinese not English. So when I had a visa interview, interviewer asked me, “Why do you want to go to the U.S? Why aren’t you going to China?” So I answered that I want to get a better job and more valuable experiences. First of all, in Korea, knowing how to speak English is an important factor for getting a job. Nowadays, a lot of companies request English when they employ people. After graduating from university, I want to work in an international trade company. Secondly, when I finally get to speak English fluently with native speakers, I think I would be more confident about myself and be happy about my accomplishment. I think I would be able to learn more things than just English through this challenge. Therefore, for this semester, I want to focus on studying and learning English during the weekdays, while having fun and spending time with friends during the weekends.
