Week 7
We have a long Spring Break coming up. What are your plans for the break? Are you the type of person that likes to fill each day with activities or will you mostly rest? For me, it will be a combination of both. I'm going to take the TOEFL ibt. I would like to teach some SAL electives about the TOEFL and this would help me do a better job of that. I'll also play a lot of tennis. I compete on a tennis team that starts in April. With my foot hurt right now, I'm not able to practice. I need to get my game back! What about you?

I have no idea about what kind of person I am. On the one hand, I am really dynamic, but on the other hand, I spend many times without doing anything. I have a clear opinion that the best rest is doing something what I really want to do, and I spent many holidays and vacations for playing golf or watching TV at home in my country. However, I have had other hobbies here, traveling and driving. Not only I have enough times to travel, but also this country has perfect conditions for trip. I am trying to go out every holiday and vacation for short trip and journey. I also like to go to the famous restaurant that is small and old. It takes an important portion of my travel. I found out several restaurants that I can recommend to my friends in San Francisco and other places. For this purpose, I already made my travel plans according to the SAL schedule. For example, I heard that the best time for Death Valley trip is April and for Yosemite National Park, June. The first plan was traveling to Cancun in Mexico of last Thanksgiving holidays. It is not easy for Koreans to make a trip to Mexico because it’s too far away, but it took only 4 hours for my family to get there. The second plan was traveling the Western America where I traveled last winter vacation. Though I couldn’t see all the places such as Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park because of heavy snow, it was great beyond my expectation. Now I have the plan to go to the Yellow Stone National Park and Canada during this spring break. Of course, I’m going to go by my car. Moreover, I am going to trip with only basic plans and without any reservations. I will go north along the Highway No. 5 through Oregon State, and then turn my handle east to reach Yellow Stone National Park. After seeing the park, I’m going to go toward north again to cross the border. That is all of the plan. Even though some people around me put a stop to do that, I will try that because it is real travel what I want. We, my family, can stay longer in any city if we feel good. We will go around all the places where we want to go, and rest anytime when we are tired. What do you think about my plan?
ReplyDeleteI have no ideas about the long Spring Break. I just decide to go out with Ailsa at present. We will go to the Stanford University and the Stanford Shopping Center. The Stanford University is a private school in the United States, and it is recognized as one of the most outstanding universities in the world. As a student, we yearn for this University. We will select for one day to go to visit this great university. Maybe on the other days we will visite farther places that we have not played. Moreover, I will do some activities outside when it is sunny. I mentioned that Americans enjoy their outdoor exercises in my essay. While in Rome, do as the Romans do. Therefore, I will learn a sport. I think tennis is one of good sports I like, because tennis may play alone or with partner. In addition, I will prepare government functionary's examination at home. I will go back to Taiwan to participate in the examination after this semester. If I can get the good achievement in this examination, I will have a very wonderful working guarantee. This is one of my future hopes.
ReplyDeleteNot like Jae Hyun and Clare said, I really don't know what i will do on this Spring Break vacation. Somebody told me that the Spring Break just has 1 week and i think that is not enough time for a long trip. Beside the time is not enough, another reason is most my friends will not continue studying at SAL. Someone will come back my native country, some other ones will move to another city or state and ones will transfer to college which they chose. Therefore, I don't know what I will do. I want to travel to those places which Jae Hyun said, but that will be very expensive and I don't have money to do that. I also went to Stanford last session with my friends. It is a wonderful university I have ever seen. It is very bigger than San Jose State and it has the big and high wall of art. Because of these reasons, maybe i will be at home on whole the Spring Break. i was so lazy on this session,so i want to spend my Spring Break to practise all lesson the teachers taught. That is my plan for spring break vaction.
ReplyDeleteSpring Break is coming. Actually I don't know what will I do. I have just passed the driving test, and I want to buy a car so maybe I will take a week to look for cars. Then, if my older cousin is free, she will pick me up go to the Gym for doing exercise with her, and what else ?? My little cousin always invites me go swimming with her if the weather is warm. I hope the weather will be warm so I can go swimming, I like go swimming very much. Long time no swim. If I have nothing to do, I will stay at home and watching movie on the internet, or chat with my friends. I also like go outside for breakfast with my grandparents and go shopping with my aunts. I will ask them to go with me. Finally, I will clean my room. That's all my plans for spring break.
ReplyDeleteSo far, I have no any plans for this spring break, because I’m not family with some places which is closed to my home. While, Clare and me consider going to the Stanford University, because the Stanford University is one of the famous university in America, even around the world. We want to feel the different environment of study in the great university. In addition, probably I’ll prepare for talking driving test. In America, driving license just like personal ID, and it’s very convenient for us to do something if we have a driving license. Especially, I can go everywhere by myself but my sister. What’s more, I have to try my best to prepare TOEFL test, for I want to take IBT toefl test in May this year. IBT is a very difficult test for international students, and two months is not enough to prepare it for me who have a lot of weakness for English. So it’s a only way for me to work hard and make full use of this time. As a result, I think I don’t have a lot of time to plan something.
ReplyDeleteActually, I have no idea about spring vacation. I think I will be doing part time job every day. This semester is my last semester, of course, I want to hang out with my friends or travel some places in the U.S.. However, I also need some money because I will stop by Japan when I go back South Korea, so I need some money to spend in there. Also, I will try to meet my friends. After this session, my some friends are going to go back their countries, so I want to meet them and make a good memory with them. The last one which I'll try to do is what I'm going to watch American shows and movies. Actually, this was plan which I tried to do last winter vacation, yet I couldn't this plan, so I want to try it again.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any plan about spring vacation. However, If I can, I want go to travel in the U.S. Last winter vacation, I can't trevel in the U.S, instead I went to library everydays. Because I don't like cold weather, and my friends moved another city or went to their country so I don't have friends that go to travel with me. However, this spring vacation is very good chance for trevel. Many kind of flower bloom and weather is warm. Thus, I really want to go to travel with my friends. I will go back korea this may. I don't have enough time. I want to make good memories. Therefore, I think that this spring vacation is very good chance to me.
ReplyDeleteIt passed 6 months so soon. I came near the time to go back to Korea. Therefore, I have no spring break after this session. Since I came to America last september, I have had a place in my client's company. I met many persons there and also heard of American culture from them. I have been busy in studying, undergoing American culture and making friends for 6 months in America. Looking back on last 6 months, it seemed to me I had many precious experiences and a wonderful time. Last December I made a first trip with mother in law, and my wife's elder sister the western America such as Disney Land, Grand canyon, Las Vegas, L.A., Arizona, and so on. Surprisingly I came across a friend of mine who is a high school friend at the El Camino last December. We lived apart without contact for 20 years. He has lived for 20 years in San Jose. Therefore, I made a plan together with my friend where we would trip. In the long run, we together made a decision to trip with each family the Eastern America such as New York, Chicago, and so on. after this session because I had never been to Eastern America. That will be my last sojourn and trip in America. I have learned English in SAL for 6 months. Consequently, I had an idea that curriculums in SAL were excellent and teachers in SAL were also gentle- mannered and kind. I'd like to say " I am very thankful to everyone I met in SAL" on this occasion.
ReplyDeleteI'll go to Las Vegas in this spring break with my friend. We decided that we'll drive to there. I heard it'll take 10 hours. I know that it's gonna be really long trip. But I'm so excited. Before, I've been Las Vegas for 3 days. But it was too short for me. And plus, last time, I spend one day for Grand Canyon, so I couldn't look around Vegas for enough time. This time, I'll stay there for 5 days. My friend will take me famous clubs, hotels, etc. I'm so excited about this. Actually, I wanted to see the "O"show. But it is really expensive, so I gave up to see it. I hope that I'll see it while I'm here in USA. My another plan is to get driver license. I realized that it's very hard to move to somewhere in USA. I don't decide if I buy a car. But I know that I need a driver license. I already have korean driver license, so I think that it's not difficult to get US driver license. Actually, I hope that it's not difficult. These are my plan while I'm in spring vacation. I hope I'll be able to do these things.
ReplyDeleteI will go back Japan in spring break. but I have still have time to go somewhere. I have a plan to go Hawaii, but it is not sure because I dont have money. I dont want to use money which is from my parents. I want to go Hawaii by my money. In addition, I dont have a frined to go there witm me. may be I will go back Japan with nothing speceial in spring break.
ReplyDeleteDuring my vacations, I usually read books that I haven’t read because I’ve been busy with work or school. However, this spring break will be different because my sister in Korea is getting married, so I will be going to Korea to attend her wedding. I was not sure if I was going to attend the wedding at first because I thought I needed to attend school, so I was very disappointed. But the wedding happened to be around the same time as my spring break. Now I am very happy. I will be going to Korea a week before the wedding, so I will be able to spend time with my sister and the family to celebrate events involving my sisters wedding. A week before the wedding, there is an event that is held with the family. The event is the groom’s friends bring the gifts that groom has prepared for the bride to the bride’s house. On the way to the bride’s house is a very exciting experience for the groom, his friends and bride’s friends. When the groom’s friends do reach the bride’s house, the bride and her family and her friends and the groom and his friends spend time together, and share that wonderful memory together. And I will be helping my sister prepare for her wedding and help to make sure she has a memorable experience. At first, I was against my sister getting married at a young age, but now I wish that my sister will live her life loving her husband forever.
ReplyDeleteThese days, I’m so busy at school, so I really expect spring break. My first plan is buying a laptop and finding some good apartment. My laptop has something wrong, and it has bothered me a long time. I want to move out and live nearby SJSU in May. Next, I will take a drive test. I think it is inconvenient without a car in the U.S., so I want to buy a car to go where I want. That’s why I will use spring break to complete some workings. My second plan is going to Los Angeles or Las Vegas. I have been here around seven months, but I didn’t go there. I’m delighted to trip there, and I’ll see different American lifestyle and culture. Also, I can be with my friends, and I can enjoy with them. There are many great tourist spots, so I can take pictures in Los Angeles or Las Vegas. All in all, I have a lot of work to do in spring break, or I have a good time in other cities, so I cannot wait it anymore.

ReplyDeleteHello everyone. This is my last week in SAL, so I don't have any spring break. Actually I treat last few month in the U.S. as kind of vacation. On the next Friday I'm going to visit Los Angeles and take there TOEFL exam (It may be useful). I've also heard a lot about San Diego, so this place will be my next stop during this trip. I'd love to also visit Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon; however, I'm afraid whereas it might be impossible because I'm going to stay here only one month. Anyway, maybe next time...

ReplyDeleteDuring this vacation, I want to make some trips with my friends. First, I'll go to San Diego to watch baseball games. I really like baseball games. Just in time, World Baseball Classic begins in some countries. Korean team passed a preliminary stage in Asia. Therefore, they will come to San Diego to participate in the World Baseball Classic. I'll go there with some friends and we'll cheer for the Korean team. Second, I'll go to Lake Tahoe or Las Vegas for casino. Actually, I like to gamble with my friends. For instance, I like to bet money, food, or beer, when we are playing games or something. I have been to casino, twice. I thought it is very dangerous place because people can lose a lot of money in an instant. However, fortunately I won more money there. Therefore, I want to go there again.
